The film, Koyaanisqatis, shows an interesting perspective on how technology has dominated our society. In my personal opinion on this film, there are many facts that back up this idea. Since the dawn of the human race, people originally depend on natural things from nature. For instance, early prehistoric people would dwell in caves and use them as a form of shelter. However, as time progressed on, people began using their imaginations to generate ideas how they could make their lives more easier than depending on nature for vital needs. This idea marked the beginning of technology. Humanity uses technology as a way to make life very easy by accoplishing tasks within a few moments. Our reliance on technology has isolated us from nature. For example, a human build anything in order to survive in a certain environment. A squirel however, depends on oak trees for food and shelter. With technology, people no longer have to rely so much on nature for support. Basically, humanity has moved from living in a natural environment to a artifical environment. Technology has also enhanced our capabilities such as flying in the air, creating electricity, superior healing medicine, etc. However, people still depend on the vital needs of nature. Farming is an exellcent idea to clarity this point. Farmers use natural seeds from plants to grow food. Without seeds, people would be unable to grow their own food. Instead we would have to rely on hunting. In some sense, I feel that technology has always been apart of life. For example, I use a cell phone to call someone from a great distance. Without a cell phone, I would have to travel great distances in order to deliver a message to someone. With technology advancing at an incredible rate, people become too dependent on it. Eventaully, we will longer have to rely on our natural capabilities. Technology dominating human life can be a serious issue.
